But there’s a little catch…
We all know how important it is to have a professional email address when sending out communications. Yet, as a startup or small business, you wouldn’t typically have the resources to acquire a paid option.
Aside from that, most of the free business email options that are termed free have hidden paywalls and upsells. Those that are actually free, are far from useful. They either don’t work, are difficult to work with or more commonly, land in the recipient’s spam folder.
It all makes you just give up and stick to a free personal email. However, there are certain reasons why you would consider getting a business email:
- Professionalism: When opposed to utilizing personal email accounts for work correspondence, having a corporate email address presents a more professional image.
- Credibility: Having an official email address linked to your firm increases its dependability and credibility in the eyes of clients and business partners.
- Using a business email address that contains the name of your organization strengthens your brand identification and aids in brand awareness.
- Security: Business email providers frequently include higher security safeguards to safeguard your messages and critical data from outside attacks.
The Catch?
You need a domain.
So far, the only reliable way to get a completely free email is to own a domain. Of course, we assume that if you are running a business you’d already have a paid domain. In case you don’t, there are many cheap options (for as low as $1!).
Keep in mind, the domain has to be a paid one and not a free one for this method to work.
Getting the free business email address
In order to avail a free business email address, we will turn to Zoho Mail. Software provider Zoho offers a variety of cloud-based tools and services to both people and companies. Its headquarters are in California, United States, and it was established in 1996 by Sridhar Vembu and Tony Thomas.
Zoho provides three paid plans as can be seen but we want it for free! Zoho offers a fourth somewhat discreetly offered plan called :”Forever Free Plan”.
This plan includes:
- Up to five users
- 5GB/User
- 25MB attachment limit
- Web access and free mobile apps*
- Email hosting for single domain
Step 1
Sign up for the free plan here. Once again, the plan is completely free.
Step 2
Set up the free business email account by linking it with your domain which you have purchased earlier. We recommend buying it from a reputable service like godaddy or bluehost. These services have the best support system as well as the easiest to manage backend (C-Panel).
Now this can be a somewhat complicated task which is why we suggest you follow the video made by Zoho here.
Step 3
What are you waiting for? Send out your professional communications with your new business email!
Note that this free plan limits you to a maximum of 5 accounts. Once you exceed that, you'll be incurring $1 per user/month, which seems to be reasonable.
